This weekend is Eagle week at Ft. Campbell. There are all kinds of activites to honor past and present members of the 101st Airborne.

One of the events is Saturday and is called "Welcome home for Viet Nam Veterans. It is open to all VN vets regardless of duty assignment. According to the PR, it is the first time that any group has staged a formal welcome home ceremony for Viet Nam Veterans.

It is a grand gesture. I will be around for most of the activites but I think I will skip this one. It's taken many decades but I have put all that behind me and no longer want to blow up the WHOLE world.

A lot of the guys I served with in Vietnam are attending the 101st Reunion. I've never been much of a "joiner" other than the military.
I keep up with them, but don't have much time to travel that far.

Me, I don't want or need a "welcome home". I joined and voluntered for service Vietnam. I did it because I wanted to and it gave me an oppurtunity to see the elephant, so to speak.
I loved Vietnam and combat, so nobody owes me anything. The American Public didn't appreciate the sacrafice of the young men and women who died there, so fuckem', the cowardly young men who didn't serve.
