I really like the sound of my new Mustang GT's twin exhausts when I fire it up. But when the engine gets up to normal operating tempature, the exhaust note becomes noticably more quiet.

So what can be done to give my GT a more "throaty" exhaust note without violating any state or federal laws or replacing the mufflers? I'm big on leaving my cars in stock condition, but I want that 300 bhp engine to sound like the V8's of my younger days.

BBB,

Thanks for the link.

Patriot sez, "replace the cats with an H pipe". You want to translate that for me? I don't know what it means and or if it will void my warranty.

JJ, they can take the wiseass outta New Joisey, but they can't take the New Joisey outta the wiseass.

JW, this may be hard to believe, but most of the hotrod shops in this locale have gone out of business. What replaced them are shops that cater to the "ricer" crowd. You know what I mean. The bunch who take a Honda Civic or whatever and turn it into something that looks like the buggies in the Fast And Furious movies. They clowns amuse me no end. They spend big bucks on their ricer or US equilavent and under the hood is a peanut popper engine and on the ass end is a "fart pipe" exhaust. Just yesterday some pimple faced douchebag driving a fucking Saturn with a fart pipe challenghed me at a stop light. I just shook my head and ignored the whigger asshole. The stupid fuck didn't see the city PD car monitoring traffic less than 100 yards away. Maybe I should have nodded yes and then let the idjit get a ticket.

And so it goes......

retired bum i mean the cad converters on your ex pipe. you can order the h pipe from the ford deailer ( svt catalog ) and it will not void your warranty. just go to the parts and service counter. its nothing more than a pipe that bolts on. but will make a hell of an improvment. they will know what your talking about. or go to a speed shop in your area
