I was moving stuff around this PM in my gun safe and pulled out a pistol that I have not shot in close to 20 years.....
It is a CZ-52 which was the Czech military service pistol up until the breakup of the old Warsaw Pact in 1989. I acquired it in 1992 when these pistols started showing up as milsurp at the gun shops in this area.
It is chambered for the 7.62 Soviet Type P round aka the 7.62mm Tokarev. The Czechs used the Model 48 cartridge which was even hotter than the Russian ammo. A 85 grain FMJ at just over 1600 fps out of a 4.7 inch barrel. Muzzle blast and flash big time!
It cames with two mags and the lanyard in the box. I bought one more mag because I like having at least three mags for any pistol I own. I shot Russian, Chinese, and Czech ammo in this thing. Flat shooting to say the least. But I always ran a Windex soaked patch down the bore at the range after shooting because the ammo was corrosive. This made it easier to clean once I got home with it.
I wonder what I should do with this ex commie blaster. Don't have much money invested and I have maybe 500 rounds of assorted milsurp ammo on the shelf. I have no idea what the market is for this pistol today. Most shooters who shoot the Tokarev round have Russian, Chinese, Romanian, or Yugo Tokarev pistols. But IMHO the CZ-52 is a better pistol. It used a roller locking breech that is stronger and superior to the Tok's tilting barrel.
